Donations

Thanks to the generosity of the Oakland community and major investors, we are pleased to announce that more than $5.75M in donations has been received from the following major contributors:

Plus more than $240,000 from over 700 individual donors!

Investments

We are putting these donations to work rapidly, making grants to community-based organizations who are working on the front lines of this crisis and serving our most vulnerable community members. More than $5.5M in grants made to date include:

1. Alameda County Family Justice Center – $100,000 for direct housing and other basic needs assistance to victims of domestic violence

2. Asian Health Services – $115,000 for health, outreach and education services including subgrants to 13 community partners: Asian Law Caucus, Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance, Asian Pacific Environmental Network, Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach, Asian Prisoner Support Committee, AYPAL, Center for Empowering Refugees and Immigrants, Chinatown Chamber of Commerce, Chinatown Coalition, Family Bridges, Filipino Advocates for Justice, Korean Community Center of the East Bay, and Nail Salon Collaborative

3. Bay Area Community Services – $518,000 for shelter and services to unhoused populations including subgrants to: Abode, Building Futures for Women & Children, Covenant House, East Oakland Community Project, First Place for Youth, Housing Consortium of the East Bay, Operation Dignity, Roots Community Health Center, St. Mary’s, St. Vincent de Paul, and 211/Eden I&R

4. Center for Cultural Innovation – $150,000 for the Oakland Individuals in the Arts Relief Fund to provide emergency grants to individual artists and culture workers in Oakland

5. Centro Legal de la Raza – $250,000 for the Oakland Undocumented Relief Fund to provide direct financial assistance to immigrant Oakland workers

6. East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation (EBALDC) – $100,000 for a range of community needs in West Oakland including 4 subgrants to Mandela Partners, Mercy Brown Bag, Prescott-Joseph Center, and West Oakland Health Council

7. East Oakland Youth Development Corporation $225,000 for a range of community needs including subgrants to Black Cultural Zone, East Oakland Collective, Eastside Arts Alliance, LifeLong Medical’s East Oakland Health Center, and Roots Community Health Center

8. Keep Oakland Housed – $400,000 to provide legal representation, emergency financial assistance, and supportive services for Oakland residents

9. La Clinica – $650,000 for COVID-19 Testing for front-line workers and others

10. Oakland LGBTQ+ Center – $50,000 for emergency rent and housing assistance to low-income LGBTQ+ families

11. Oakland Public Education Fund – $700,00 to Oakland Unified School District and Tech Exchange for distance learning, rapid relief for the most at-risk families in K-12 and Head Start, and ensuring schools are safe and clean for return

12. Oakland-Alameda County-Emeryville Fire Fighters Charity Fund – $20,500 for COVID-19 Testing for First Responders

13. One Fair Wage Campaign – $100,000 to the Emergency Coronavirus Tipped & Service Worker Support Fund to provide direct financial assistance for Oakland service workers

14. SOS Meals on Wheels – $400,000 for meal delivery to home-bound seniors

15. Unity Council – $150,000 for community needs in the Fruitvale & West Oakland with subgrants to Communities United for Restorative Youth Justice (CURYJ), The Crucible, Native American Health Center, Prospera, and Street Level Health, and $210,000 for COVID Radical Disparities Task Force

16. Working Solutions – $1,500,000 for rapid relief grants to extremely low-income small businesses in Oakland
