Cities today cannot succeed on their own, especially if they want to engage in transformative endeavors. To be successful, we need new tools and new partners willing to invest in innovative ideas.
The Oakland Fund for Public Innovation is our platform for philanthropy and the business sector to partner with us and develop strategic, innovative approaches to address Oakland’s challenges.
This is where together, the philanthropic, public and private sector collaborate, and bring people together to test bold ideas and approaches to complex problems with the goal of making our public system of government better.
I am a strong believer in getting at the underlying challenges behind the problems our city faces. We must be more resilient to solve today’s challenges. We must seek solutions to the crisis of the day as well as the slower moving disruptions. The Oakland Fund can help us succeed by providing a place to innovate and scale new ways to enhance Oakland City government.
